Autumn Mini Retreat

I'm pleased to share details of my September Mini-Retreat. This retreat offers a wonderful opportunity to step away from the demands of everyday life, focus on your wellbeing, and enjoy dedicated time for movement, relaxation, and connection.

Whether you're looking to improve your strength and mobility, recharge your energy, or simply take some time for yourself, this retreat has been designed with you in mind.

On this page, you'll find everything you need to know about the retreat.

As the season shifts from summer to autumn we also see a shift within ourselves. It is a time to take some time for reflection, to slow down, to move mindfully and be gentle with ourselves. This mindfulness is the theme for our autumn mini-retreat - Come and join us for a lovely morning of pilates, walking and nourishing food in the beautiful East Herts countryside. Here are the details!

Who is this for?

This half day retreat is suitable for “every body” from the new beginner to the advanced body.

What is it?

The morning includes two pilates sessions, the first one will focus on the hips. It is a workshop to help keep our hips healthy, after all, the hips are crucial as the body’s central anchor point to support posture.

Healthy hips take pressure off our lower backs, knees and even help plantar fasciitis. We need to keep the muscles strong and joints active to reduce the risk of developing osteoarthritis. This session will wake our bodies up and you will gain an awareness of what movements our hips should be doing regularly.

Our second session focuses on precision of movement. We will look at correct start positioning, what the joints are doing and why/how things can go wrong while executing certain movements. You will leave having a deeper understanding of the exercises and consequently enhance the precision of each movement.

We will then take a walk in the beautiful Dane End countryside to fully appreciate the changing seasons, and get back in time to round off the day with a delicious lunch prepared by Claire from The Lobster Pot. This is a local business based in Welwyn Garden City who a few of you have recommended. Her ethos and attention to detail are impressive. Her food has appeared on the One Show, when she catered for Laura Trott’s party following the 2012 Olympics!

When and Where?

The retreat is happening on Saturday 26th September between 9am and 1pm.

It will be at Dane End Christmas Tree Farm in the beautiful barn. Who knows whether we will be doing pilates by the fire, or opening the big doors to allow the air to flow through and keep us cool.

Why should you come along?

The mini-retreats are the perfect way to get away from the busyness of everyday life, to take some time out for yourself to focus on you and really immerse yourself in the pilates experience.

Here is a testimony from Jennie about a previous morning spent at the farm:

“Thank you so much for the lovely morning on Saturday. The venue at Dane End Farm was perfect for a morning of releasing tight muscles and realigning our bodies followed by an absolutely delicious lunch. I would recommend anyone to come along next time."
